Cutleriales is an order in the Phylum Phaeophyta or Brown algae. It is composed of 2-6 genera, based upon various circumscriptions.<ref>Lee, RE (Third Edition, 1999). Phycology. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press.</ref><ref>Guiry, MD; GM Guiry (2006). AlgaeBase version 4.2. World-wide electronic publication, National University of Ireland, Galway. Retrieved on 22 November 2006.</ref> The circumscription in the taxobox (right) is the list of genera from AlgaeBase, although only 3 of these genera are listed as containing species, 11 species in Cutleria, and one each in Microzonia, and Zanardinia. Lee circumscribes the order with only the two genera, Cutleria and Zanardinia.
