A DVD+RW DL is a rewritable optical disc with storage capacity of 8.5 GB. DVD+RW DL discs employ two rewritable dye layers.
On March 2006, DVD+RW Alliance approved "DVD+RW part 2: Dual Layer, volume 1; DVD+RW 8.5 Gbytes, Basic Format Specifications, version 1.0, March 2006" that is already released for distribution.
The first compatible burners and discs are expected to become available by the end of 2006.
