Daniel DeWitt Thomas, born in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Danny was the second drummer for the 13th Floor Elevators. Danny played drums and sang back up vocals on the final two studio albums, Easter Everywhere and Bull of the Woods. Danny remains committed to the music and message of the band. In an interview in 2001, Danny was asked when he quit the band. His reply was "I never quit". This refers to both the circumstances of how the band broke up -- due to the confinement of Roky Erickson -- and his belief that the impact of the band continues on.
Danny briefly owned his own delivery company called Gophers Inc. Prior to this he worked at Carolinas Medical Center (formerly Charlotte Memorial Hospital). Presently, he collects antiques and manages an antique mall in Charlotte, NC.
He lives in Charlotte, NC with his wife, Juanette. He has two grown daughters, Christina and Tiffany, and a son, Jason Brock. Danny is a vegetarian and humanitarian.
He plays piano, as well as drums, and worked with Arthur Smith's recording studio and Lightnin' Hopkins. His last musical endeavor was called Bessie May's Dream.
