Dave Nonis

Dave M. Nonis (born May 25, 1966, Burnaby, British Columbia) is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Vancouver Canucks, a National Hockey League franchise. He replaced Brian Burke in 2004. Prior to this he spent six years of Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations for the Canucks. Since taking over from Brian Burke, Nonis' most high profile moves have been to replace coach Marc Crawford with Alain Vigneault and to trade troubled power forward Todd Bertuzzi to the Florida Panthers for goaltender Roberto Luongo. The deal also involved defenseman Bryan Allen and goaltender Alex Auld going to Florida and defenseman Lukas Krajicek and a 6th round pick in 2006(Sergei Shirokov) going to Vancouver.

Nonis played NCAA College Hockey in the United States at the University of Maine, collecting 14 goals and 78 points in 153 games from 1984 through 1988. Nonis spent his final two years for the Bears as team captain, leading the University of Maine team to back to back NCAA championship tournaments. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1988. Following this, Nonis played 1 year of professional hockey in Denmark and in 1989 returned to the University of Maine, moving behind the bench as an assistant coach.
