David Dudley Field (1781-1867)

David Dudley Field was an American Congregational clergyman and historical writer. He was born in East Guilford, now Madison, Conn. on May 20, 1781, the son of Timothy Field, an officer during the American Revolution. graduated at Yale in 1802, and held pastorates at Haddam. Conn., and Stockbridge, Mass. He wrote A History of the Town of Pittsfield, in Berkshire County, Massachusetts (1844). He married Submit Dickison, and they had David Dudley Field, Stephen Johnson Field, Cyrus West Field, and Henry Martyn Field (minister).
