Delhaize Group (Euronext: DELB, NYSE: DEG) is a food retailer headquartered in Belgium which operates in 10 countries and on three continents. Delhaize Group was founded in Belgium in 1867. The principal activity of Delhaize Group is the operation of food supermarkets in North America, Europe and Southeast Asia.

As of December 31, 2005, Delhaize Group had a sales network (which includes directly operated, franchised and affiliated stores) of 2,636 stores and employed approximately 136,000 people. Store formats are primarily supermarkets, which represent 85% of Delhaize Group's sales network. Delhaize Group's sales network also includes other store formats such as neighborhood stores, convenience stores and specialty stores. In addition to food retailing, which accounted for approximately 95% of Delhaize Group's sales in 2005, Delhaize Group also engages in food wholesaling to stores in its sales network and in nonfood retailing of products such as pet products and health and beauty products.

Delhaize Group recorded sales of 18.6 billion euros in 2005 and net income of 364.9 million euros. Delhaize Group's operations are located primarily in the United States (Food Lion, Hannaford, Kash n' Karry/Sweetbay, and Harveys) and Belgium. Its other operations are located in Greece, the Czech Republic and Slovakia (with the mark Delvita), Romania, Thailand and Indonesia.

On 10 November 2006 Czech media announced <ref>Delvita na českém trhu končí (Delvita is ending at the czech market) (České noviny, 09 November 2006)</ref> that the company offered for sale all of its 96 supermarkets in the Czech Republic and will leave the Czech market. They have functioned there since 1991.
