Different Light is an album by The Bangles released in January 1986. It is their best known album, with a Top 5 hit single and a No. 1 hit. The album's Top 40 sound was a departure from their earlier 60s-style sound.

Three of five singles were written by someone other than the Bangles: "Manic Monday" (written by Prince under the pseudonym Christopher) <ref>Stichting Nederlandse Top 40, 500 Nr. 1 hits uit de Top 40, Page 234, 9023009444</ref>, "If She Knew What She Wants" and "Walk Like An Egyptian". The other two singles were "Following" and "Walking Down Your Street".

[edit] Miscellanea

  • Cassette Front Cover (U.S.) and CD Back Cover (U.S.) Differences

The front cover of the album's most U.S. cassette pressings only showed 12 (out of 16) of the "different" snapshots, eliminating the third column to best fit the rectangular layout of cassettes - also the layout used by the songbook edition. The vinyl LP back cover looks much like the front, except the 16 different snapshots lie against a blue canvas background and the songs are listed in paragraph format at the very top. European-made CD's replicated this layout on the back of their jewel case, but the U.S. edition only shows 4 (out of the 16) snapshots, with songs in "numbered list" format occupying the area that would have been the remaining 12 photos.
