Dunedin International Airport (IATA: DUDICAO: NZDN) is an international airport in the southern South Island of New Zealand, serving Dunedin and the Otago and Southland regions. The airport is located adjacent to the village of Momona on the Taieri Plains approximately 22 kilometres west of central city Dunedin.

The airport was built in 1962 to cater for passengers of short haul aircraft with the first International flight occurring in August 1994. Movements have increased from 100,000 passengers in 1963 to 520,000 in 1995 and 481,000 in 2000, with nearly 19000 aircraft movements in 2000. It is projected that by 2015, aircraft movements will reach 38,000 and well over 1 million passengers.

The Airport has only recently under gone a major and extensive upgrade to its facilities with a bigger check in area and a new international arrival area. The airport is now up to worldwide standards in terms of facilities etc.

[edit] Getting to/from the city

Airport shuttles, seating around 8-10 people should cost around $15-$20 per person for door to airport service. This option is best booked the day before travel.

Taxis are also available for this trip and cost ~$60 to the city. There is no bus or train service available.

  • One pay carpark for short and long term parking which is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
  • The airport has shopping and other standard facilities. Banking and Duty free shops are usually only open to coincide with international flights.
