In medicine, specifically urology, dysuria refers to any difficulty in urination. It is sometimes accompanied by pain. It is most often a result of an infection of the urinary tract. Sometimes these symptoms can coincide with an STD or yeast infection. In men, the urinary system overlaps with the reproductive system, so dysuria can also be a result of genital infection.
The revolutionary Emperor of France, Napoleon Bonaparte is said to have suffered from the condition from time to time. Particulary in his 1812 campaign on Russia, when he was sometimes unable to inspect the battle field because of this condition.
