Echidne of the Snakes [1] is a fairly popular liberal feminist blog. Its pseudonymous author, Echidne, named after the mythological Echidna, has adopted the persona of a part-human snake goddess. The blog won a Koufax Award in 2005 in the category "Most Deserving of Wider Recognition." It received nominations for Koufax Awards in 2005 for "Best Writing," "Best Blog (Nonprofessional)," and "Best Post" (two nominations); in 2004 for "Best Overall Blog by a Nonprofessional," "Best Single Issue Blog (Feminism),"Best Writing," and "Most Deserving of Wider Recognition"; and in 2003 for "Best New Blog." Echidne lives in the Boston area with her dog (pseudonymously referred to on her blog as "Henrietta"), and describes herself as "a recovering economist." She has also written for The American Prospect.[2]
