Eddystone is a borough in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,442 at the 2000 census.
Eddystone was the site of the Baldwin Locomotive Works plant, once the largest manufacturer of steam locomotives in the world.
During World War I, Remington-UMC opened a firearms manufacturing plant in Eddystone. Both the British Pattern 1914 rifle and US Model 1917 rifle were produced there. The Eddystone plant produced more than any other manufacturer of said weapons.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²). 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it (30.67%) is water.
Eddystone gets its name from William Simpson who was so impressed by the Eddystone Lighthouse on a visit to England that he named the town & print works he'd founded after it.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 2,442 people, 964 households, and 607 families residing in the borough. The population density was 906.6/km² (2,352.6/mi²). There were 1,035 housing units at an average density of 384.2/km² (997.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the borough was 95.45% White, 1.76% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.49% Asian, 0.61% from other races, and 1.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.84% of the population.
There were 964 households out of which 31.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.8% were married couples living together, 16.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.0% were non-families. 32.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 14.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.24.
In the borough the population was spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 95.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.6 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $37,543, and the median income for a family was $47,054. Males had a median income of $36,422 versus $25,069 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $16,537. About 11.6% of families and 12.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.1% of those under age 18 and 16.4% of those age 65 or over.
