Edison Chen Gun Hei (Chinese: 陳冠希; Cantonese IPA: [{{{i}}}], Jyutping: {{{j}}}, Yale: Chàn Gūnhēi; Mandarin Pinyin: Chén Guānxī; born October 7, 1980, in Vancouver, Canada) is a Chinese movie actor, pop star, and idol.

He was a student at R.C. Palmer Secondary School in Richmondand also attended the Hong Kong International School <ref>Friendster Profile Edison Chen</ref>, but his high school career was a failure; dropping out after the completion of grade 11. He spent much of his life living in Vancouver and New York City, which contributes to his fluency in the English language.

A scout approached Edison when he was clubbing with friends in a club in Hong Kong and asked Edison to film a commercial. From there on, he was introduced into the Hong Kong entertainment circle where he gained immense popularity for his attractive appearance.

He has starred in many films including Infernal Affairs I & II (the former having been remade into the Hollywood hit The Departed), The Twins Effect, Initial D and Dog Bite Dog. Determined on expanding his horizons beyond Hong Kong, he also starred as the male lead in the Japanese drama "Under the Same Moon." Edison has released many Cantonese albums, and is currently working on a Mandarin album in which some songs are produced by American rapper Kanye West.

Edison's foray into the fashion industry accompanied his rising success as a young pop icon. Edison has been rumored with many girls such as Gillian Chung, Bobo Chan, 2R's Rosanne Wong, Maggie Q, Stephy Tang, and Anne Suzuki. Since the summer, he has mentioned a girl named "V" on personal blog<ref>Edison's Blog</ref> many times. He only recently admitted to dating Vincy Yeung, niece of EEG CEO Albert Yeung, after the première of his Hollywood début, The Grudge 2.
