Eggplant is a brownish-purple color that resembles eggplants and was introduced by Crayola in 1998, but the Crayola color eggplant is less saturated (more of a grayish red-violet color). Certain designers refer to this color by the French and British English word for eggplant, "aubergine". Eggplants (not the colour) are a fruit of some of which are this colour, although Chinese eggplant (sometimes called Oriental eggplant) is colored violet eggplant, and other varieties of eggplant are colored pigment indigo.
