[edit] Heritage
The municipality contains two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. One is Birka, an old Viking village, and the other is Drottningholm – the Royal Palace – and its surroundings.
Birka is situated to the west, on a small island south of Adelsö, while Drottningholm is situated on the eastern island of Lovö.
Other historical sights of interest are several rune stones and other Viking remains, eight medieval churches, and old towns.
[edit] Nature
There are several outdoor activities that can be enjoyed, such as fishing and bicycling, as the nature is always nearby. Each of the islands also offers distinctive experiences and sights.

Some of the major bus routes to Ekerö include 176, 177, 302, 303, 309, 312, 316, 317, and 336 from Brommaplan, where connection is available from the Green Line of the Subway.
