[edit] Plot

The story takes place in Japan during the 19th century. Oyuki is a Geisha, exploited by her elder brother Oguino. She meets, falls in love and marries Irving, an English painter, against both their families' wishes. After they are forced to leave her country for England, she gives birth to a child, Yuriko (Lilly). When Oguino accidentally kills Irving, Oyuki is sent to the jail unjustly. Yuriko is then adopted and raised by her English grandparents. 20 years later, Oguino reveals on his deathbed that he is Irving's real killer and Oyuki is freed from prison. Ultimately, Oyuki reconciles with her lost daughter Yuriko.
