Emma Johnson (musician)

Emma Johnson (born 1966, London) is a clarinetist. In 1984 she won the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition, playing Bernhard Crusell's clarinet concerto in the televised final. She was a pupil at Newstead Wood School for Girls, Orpington and Sevenoaks School, and then went on to study Music and English at Pembroke College, Cambridge. Emma Johnson has released several CDs; recent releases have included a number of popular and jazz tracks in addition to standard classical repertoire. She plays a Peter Eaton clarinet. The soundtrack to the BBC television series "The Victorian Kitchen Garden", a suite made up of 5 short movements for clarinet and harp, was dedicated to Ms Johnson by the composer, Paul Reade.
