[edit] Trivia
- During the 2007 World cup qualifiers, England conceeded the first goal in their opening game against Austria. They then scored 29 consecutive goals, before finally conceeding the last goal in their final game against France.
On 27th February 2006, Umbro and the FA officially unveiled Englands New Away Kit. The clean lines of the red jersey, white short and red socks give the new England kit a classic look, reminiscent of the strip worn by England’s victorious 1966 Men's team. The England Crest has been enlarged, in keeping with the 1966 design, giving the ‘Three Lions’ even more prominence than usual. A modern touch has been added to the jersey, with precision laser-cutting technology being used to add St George cross detail to the right shoulder, and body-mapping technology used to provide the perfect fit.
Gold is a theme that runs throughout the design, with the Crest being given a gold
outline and a gold, holographic star representing England’s World Cup victory. For the first time on an England kit, the names and numbers are also in gold, with a number positioned on the front of the jersey.
