Johann Ernst Glück (1654-1705) was a great Latvian Lutheran writer, clergyman and Christian scholar of Latvia.
He is renowned for translating the Holy Bible into the Latvian language which he carried out in its entirety at a place in AlūksneLettland in Latvia. The hall where Johann Ernst Glück famously translated is now designated as a museum known as the Alūksne Museum to honour his work.
He founded the first Latvian language schools in Vidzeme in 1683.
