Everett is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts near Boston. The population was 38,037 at the 2000 census.

Everett was first settled in 1630 and was officially incorporated in 1870. The city is named after the statesman Edward Everett, who unsuccessfully ran for vice president in 1860.
Everett's largest claim to fame is having the nation's only local bicameral legislature, with both a city council and a board of aldermen.
Everett has always been a dominate team in massachusetts high school football. Everett High School is considered the best massachusetts football team throughout history. They have recently won the 2006 Division 1 State Championship.

Everett is located at (42.409916, -71.052206)GR1. It is bordered by Malden on the north, Revere on the east, Chelsea on the southeast, Boston and the Mystic River on the south, and Somerville and Medford on the west. Everett is 4 miles north of Boston. Glendale Park is the city's largest park.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.5 km² (3.7 mi²). 8.8 km² (3.4 mi²) of it is land and 0.7 km² (0.3 mi²) of it (7.63%) is water.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 38,037 people, 15,435 households, and 9,554 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,345.0/km² (11,241.1/mi²). There were 15,908 housing units at an average density of 1,817.2/km² (4,701.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 79.71% White, 6.27% African American, 0.32% Native American, 3.25% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 4.99% from other races, and 5.39% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 9.51% of the population. During the last five years, there has been an influx of Brazilian residents and many Brazilian restaurants, video stores, and other establishments dot Broadway, the city's main avenue.
There were 15,435 households out of which 27.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.8% were married couples living together, 15.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 38.1% were non-families. 31.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.45 and the average family size was 3.11.
In the city the population was spread out with 21.6% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 34.8% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 91.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $40,661, slightly below the national average. The median income for a family is $49,876. Males had a median income of $36,047 versus $30,764 for females. The per capita income for the city was $19,845. About 9.2% of families and 11.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.9% of those under age 18 and 10.0% of those age 65 or over.

- Ellen Pompeo of Grey's Anatomy hails from Everett, MA.
- Two of the Boston Globe's Top 3 Massachusetts Football Players of 20th Century hailed from Everett. Ed Brickley from the legendary teams of the 1910's was #1, and Bobby Leo, who went on to star at Harvard and played two years for the Boston Patriots in the 1960's, was #3.
- Northeastern University Football legend Dan Rosswas a graduate of Everett High School. He went on to play pro football retiring in 1987 and inducted into theCollege Football Hall of Fame in 2004. He died from a fatal heart attack after a run outside in 2006.
- Omar Easy, currently playing football for the Oakland Raiders, grew up in Everett. He is a graduate of Everett High School and started a charity called EasyWay Foundationin 2003 to benefit children with asthma.
