Extinction burst

An extinction burst is a behavioral event often discussed in the context of classical conditioning. It may occur when a behavior that has been strongly reinforced in the past no longer gains a reinforcement. The animal repeats the behavior over and over again, in a burst of activity, then stops permanently.
