Fake Crash (ニセ クラッシュ Nise Kurasshu?) is a fictional character in the Crash Bandicoot series.

[edit] Overview

Fake Crash is, as his name implies, a poor imitation of Crash Bandicoot. He has very large eyebrows and teeth, and a really goofy voice. No one knows his true creator, although it was most probably Doctor Neo Cortex or Doctor Nitrus Brio. He is sometimes thought to be a clone of Crash.

At first, he wasn't a major character in the Crash Bandicoot series. He was only seen as a hidden extra in Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, and as an unlockable character in Crash Team Racing. His first major role was in Crash Bandicoot 2: N-Tranced, when he was mistaken for the real Crash by N. Trance and brainwashed into fighting alongside him. He was the third boss in the game, where he mirrored Crash's moves. After he was defeated, he joined forces with Crash and helped defeat N. Trance. He joined the Bandicoot family after N. Tropy's defeat. His next appearance was as an unlockable character in Crash Nitro Kart. He raced for the Bandicoot Team, who were in the blue karts.

He is a playable character in the game Crash Boom Bang!.

[edit] Trivia

  • He was originally created by Naughty Dog when the team saw a cheap Crash toy with large teeth and eyebrows. They nicknamed the toy "Trash Bandicoot", and turned it into the character named Fake Crash.
  • Fake Crash is of Japanese origin, and as a result is one of the most popular Crash characters there. This is probably why he was chosen to be a playable character in Crash, Boom, Bang!
  • Unlike Crash, Fake Crash can apparently speak English. This is hinted in the GBA version of Crash Nitro Kart upon being unlocked. He appears to be rather hesitant in his speech.
  • Fake Crash made another appearance in Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage, inside Dragon Castles. He's seen being closely chained to a wall, and didn't speak in this game.
  • He originally wore blue pants since he's Crash duplicate, but then wore green pants afterwards. He wore blue pants one again in Crash Boom Bang.
  • As it turns out, he and Evil Crash were both pictured as Crash's duplicates, except Evil Crash wasn't created by Cortex.
  • He's sometimes referred to as Crash's loosely twin brother, even though there were no signs of it so far.
  • He is a playable character in the Japanese version of Crash Bash. He isn't on either the good or evil side, which in turn suggests that he is either not playable in Adventure Mode or he has his own secret ending.
