Fish & Richardson is a law firm best known for its intellectual property practice. It is a national law firm, with offices in 10 U.S. cities. Its largest office is in Boston. Founded in 1878, the firm represented Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, and the Wright Brothers.

Recently the firm has been expanding its corporate and litigation practices as well. The firm already has large patent litigation and patent prosecution groups and it was among the early firms to establish a biotechnology practice. The corporate and securities group provides corporate, securities, and transactional services to clients ranging from startups to multinational corporations. The Boston office is also home to Kneerim & Williams at F&R, a literary and dramatic rights agency representing various authors.

For 2007, F&R was ranked #16 (tie) on the AveryIndex's list of the Top 25 Prestigious Firms to Work For [1], a ranking that accounts for both firm prestige and associate satisfaction.

F&R's litigation group handles more patent litigation than any other law firm in the world, and was ranked #1 in Patent Litigation by IP Law & Business [2].

For 2007, F&R was ranked #17 on the "Best 20 Law Firms to Work For" by Vault [3].
