Foxit Software is a company based in Silicon Valley, USA.
Foxit Reader is a freely available (for non-commercial use) PDF reader for 32-bit Microsoft Windows (95 up to XP, including Mobile), GNU/Linux, and U3. It is notable for its short load time and small filesize, which are sometimes favorably compared to Adobe Reader<ref name="cnet">Editorial review of Foxit PDF Reader on CNet. Page retrieved on 14 June, 2006.</ref>. Version 1.x was, however, criticised for excessive memory usage<ref name="cnet"/>.
It allows Windows 9x/ME to open Acrobat version 7 files, which the current version of Adobe's Acrobat reader for those operating systems will not.
Foxit also produces a number of other PDF related tools which are sold commercially. In this, their business strategy can be seen to be similar to that of Adobe, who also produces a free PDF Reader and sells commercial PDF software.
