Several piano competitions are named after Frédéric Chopin, one of the most famous piano composers and pianists ever. The oldest and the most famous of them is the International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw. There are more Chopin Competitions: most notably the American Chopin Competition, a feeder for the Warsaw competition, and the Kosciuszko Foundation's Chopin Competition, a competition in its own right (with laureates and prize winners Van Cliburn, Ian Hobson, Sean Bennett, Kirill Gerstein and others).
