Freema Agyeman (born 1979 in London) is an English actress.
Born to Ghanaian and Iranian parents, she graduated from Middlesex University with a BA Honours degree in Performing Arts and Design, and also studied for a time at Radford University in the United States. Agyeman's most noted recurring television role to date is as Lola Wise in the defunct soap opera Crossroads. She has also appeared in several episodes of the ITV police drama The Bill.
Agyeman has been cast as the new companion, Martha Jones, in the BBC science fiction series Doctor Who. Agyeman previously appeared in Doctor Who as the doomed supporting character Adeola in the episode Army of Ghosts. Martha Jones is a different character from Adeola, but Agyeman has hinted that the resemblance will be explained on-screen.<ref> (16 August 2006 cover date) "It's more than I ever dreamed".
