Fritz

Fritz was originally a German nickname for Friedrich, or Frederick (der alte Fritz, a nickname for King Frederick II of Prussia). Common derivations include the surnames Fritsche, Fritche, and Fritsh. Fritz was a pejorative nickname given to Germans during World War II.

- Character in Frankenstein played by Dwight Frye. Frye's definitive portrayal of a mad scientist's hunchbacked assistant became confused with Bela Lugosi's non-related Ygor in Son of Frankenstein, resulting in the latter name becoming associated with this horror-movie staple.
