Further Down the Spiral (US version also known as Halo 10 and UK version also known as Halo 10v2) is an EP by Nine Inch Nails released in 1995. Further Down the Spiral is the tenth official Nine Inch Nails release and is the companion remix disc to The Downward Spiral.
This disc includes remixes of "Mr Self Destruct", "Piggy" (featuring one-time Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro), "Hurt", "Eraser", and several extended songs that simply defy explanation when it comes to origin, inspiration, and even derivation (most notably "The Beauty of Being Numb", a song which starts out as part of "Mr Self Destruct" reversed and backwards masked and then turns into a strange, Pink Floyd-esque piano and percussion jam with elements of "Eraser".) Another notable twist is the short remix "Eraser (Polite)" where, despite its theme, incorporates a soft dream pop feeling. When fast forwarding through "Erased, Over, Out" Reznor can be heard screaming "Erase Me" through the entire track.
This disc was to become one of the most popular remix discs ever released by Nine Inch Nails. It showed a more varied and experimental point of view to the original. This remix album also contained contributions from Aphex Twin, J. G. Thirlwell, and Coil.
There were two versions of this release, one for the UK and one for the US, each containing a different set of tracks with much overlap between them.
26 Mixes for Cash, an Aphex Twin compilation, features shortened versions of "At The Heart of It All" and "The Beauty Of Being Numb". More information on this is available at the 26 Mixes article.
