G4techTV

G4techTV (formerly TechTV Canada) is a Canadian category 1 digital cable television channel co-owned by Rogers Media (66.67%) and G4 Media (33.33%) [1] It was formerly a three way (33.3%) ownership between Rogers, G4, and Shaw Communications, but Shaw sold its shares to Rogers in June 2006. Its programming is devoted to technology.

Licensed as TechTV Canada by the CRTC on November 24, 2000; it launched on September 7, 2001 and was known as TechTV Canada until May 28, 2004, at which point it was renamed as a result of the merger between TechTV and G4 in the United States. On February 15, 2005, less than a year after the merger, the United States G4techTV was renamed back to G4. Although most links from G4techTV Canada's website redirect to G4, the co-ownership and licensing with the CRTC as a technology-related network prevents the network's name in Canada from being changed.[citation needed]

Although G4techTV Canada airs most G4 shows, its schedule largely differs from its United States counterpart.

G4techTV Canada is home to Call for Help with Leo Laporte. The taping location was moved to the Rogers Media studios in Toronto, Canada after the show was cancelled in the United States as a result of the merger. In Early 2007, Call for Help Production will be outsourced to Greedy Productions in Vancouver, Canada. On August 29, 2005, Call for Help once again began airing in the United States on G4, but as of January 2006, Call for Help has been removed from the G4 lineup.

G4TechTV Canada is also broadcasted in the Barbados market. The government-owned Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation in Barbados switched from providing the United States-based feed, in favour of the Canadian-based feed for its cable television network known as Multi-Choice TV.
