Gladsaxe

Gladsaxe is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Copenhagen County on the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 25 km², and has a total population of 62,007 (2005). Its mayor is Karin Søjberg Holst, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.

The site of its municipal council is the town of Buddinge. Other towns in the municipality are Gladsaxe, Søborg, Bagsværd, and Mørkhøj, with towns growing together up to each other in an urban sprawl.

Neighboring municipalities are Gentofte to the east, Lyngby-Taarbæk to the north, Værløse and Herlev to the west, and Copenhagen to the south.

Gladsaxe municipality will not be merged with other municipalities by January 1, 2007 as the result of nationwide Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
