  • Doctrine of the Golden Mean (Chinese: 中庸; pinyin: Zhōng Yóng), a chapter in Li Ji, one of the "four books" of classical Confucian writings
  • Golden mean (philosophy), in philosophy the felicitous middle between two extremes, one of excess and one of deficiency
  • In mathematics, the golden ratio, a specific relationship between two quantities, known sometimes as the golden mean
