Gomphidae is an Odonata family that contains about 90 genera and 900 species. They are commonly referred to as clubtail dragonflies. This name is derived from the defined lump on the end of the tail, often resembling a club. Adults are usually from 40 to 70 mm in length.

They can be distinguished by the enlarged tip of the abdomen and the widly spaced eyes.
