There are several musical genres known as hardcore:
- Hardcore punk, a subgenre of punk rock
- Tribal hardcore, a subgenre of hardcore metal or hardcore punk
- Hardcore dance music in general
- Hardcore techno, a subgenre of techno, closely related to the gabba style
- Breakbeat hardcore, also known as "oldskool hardcore", the predecessor of drum and bass/jungle and happy hardcore
- UK hardcore, a term covering several genres that evolved out of breakbeat hardcore
- Hardcore hip hop, a subgenre of hip hop characterized by confrontational lyrics and gritty beats
