Harmony Glen

Image:Harmony Glen at Feakle Festival 2006.jpgHarmony Glen are a Dutch band playing Irish traditional folk music.
They were formed in January 2005<ref>Website Harmony Glen</ref> in Utrecht in the center of the Netherlands by a bunch of young but talented musicians. Their music can be compared to that of the more well known bands Four men and a dog or maybe Danú although they seem to have more jazzy and american traditional influences as well. Harmony Glen released their debut album Before Dawn (june 2006), only one year after the formation of the group. The album was well received internationally and when the band performed on the Feakle Festival of Irish Music in 2006 they were recognised as an excellent<ref>Clare People, August 2006</ref> live band as well.
Their bandcoach Miriam Kavana used to be part of the multiple award winning<ref>Folk Roots Awards</ref> Alias Ron Kavana band and also played with Shane McGowan & the Pogues and with Big Nite Out with Gino Lupari (Four men and a dog). Her powerful fiddle-style has obviously influenced the music of Harmony Glen and she regularly joins them as guest musician. Apart from pure traditional folk music, in their live shows Harmony Glen also experiments with more contemporary folk music and different musical styles.
