[edit] History

Being a famous boxer, but removed from regular competition due to once having killed an opponent in the ring, Heavy receives an invitation to the KoF'94 tournament, forming a team with Lucky Glauber and Brian Battler. After the tournament ends, Heavy D! decides to tag along with Lucky and continue to look for fights all around the world, as he claims he can "live only in battles".

[edit] Quotes

  • "Hit the mat and count to ten, take it easy on yourself, punk!"

[edit] Trivia

  • He's frequently seen in backgrounds of KoF games where he isn't playable together with Duck King and Ryuhyaku Todo - the two of them also appear in his stage in KoF98. The reason for this peculiar relation isn't known, beyond the fact that all three characters were usually among the first or weakest characters one would face in the first game of each series (Heavy's being KoF, Duck's being Fatal Fury and Todo's being Art of Fighting).
  • Heavy D! appears as Joe's unlockable Maniac Striker in the console version of KOF 2000.
  • Heavy D! has several obvious references to Mr. T.
  • Heavy D! appears in Riot of Blood Iori's ending along with Lucky Glauber in SNK vs. Capcom Chaos.
  • Heavy D! can be seen in a piece of artwork for KOF 2000. He is fighting against Ramon in the picture, with Lucky cheering him on, as Vanessa simultaneously cheers Ramon on and presses Brian Battler's face against the wire fence dividing the onlookers from the two fighters.
  • Due to his moveset, Heavy D! actually possesses two versions of each of his regular special moves. One of his techniques, Shadow, strengthens the next special done, and even bestows new qualities on a few. If Shadow is performed as the next move, it can actually connect and deal damage.
  • Heavy D! does not appear to reference the rapper of the same name at any point... they just share the name.
  • A running gag seems to exist with the USA Sports team, where they will receive invitations to that year's KOF tournament, only to be beaten senseless and haven the invitations taken from them. This happened to them in 1995 and 2000 (With Iori's Team, Vanessa, Ramon, and Seth, and the New Face Team being the respective culprits), and to Lucky Glauber in Neo Geo Battle Coliseum (With Shermie being the assailant).
