This article is about Henry Bell the Scottish engineer. For other uses, see Henry Bell (disambiguation).

Henry Bell (1767 - 1830) was a Scottish engineer.

Born in Torphichen, West Lothian, he is best remembered for his development of The PS Comet, the world's first commercially-successful steamship. Launched in 1812, it plied the waters of the River Clyde from the Broomielaw in Glasgow to the Tail of the Bank at Greenock and at Helensburgh.

Bell is commemorated by a statue at his burial place in Rhu, near Helensburgh. Although the original Comet was destroyed in 1820, a replica was built in the 1970s and stands in the centre of Port Glasgow, where it was launched.fr:Henry Bell sh:Henry Bell
