Hibbertopterina

The hibbertopterina were a family of large, spiny-skinned invertebrates living in the Devonian and Permian eras, named for palaeontologist S. Hibbert.

They resembled scorpions, but reached up to 1.6m in length. Some were terrestrial. Species include Hibbertopterus scouleri.
