Hindustan Computers Limited is an India-based company, commonly known as HCL. HCL has annual revenues of US$ 3.7 billion.[citation needed] HCL consists of two companies: HCL Technologies and HCL Infosystems and the group is collectively known as HCL Enterprise.
Founded in 1976, the company is claimed to be a garage start-up. HCL's products include engineering, technology and application services, BPO and infrastructure services. It is also a systems integrator and distrubitor of IT hardware and telecom products. HCL Enterprise employed 41,000 staff as of September 30, 2006.[citation needed] The company has operations in 16 countries.[citation needed]

HCL Technologies Ltd, a listed subsidiary of HCL , is an India-based global IT services company. It provides software services, remote infrastructure management services and BPO services. HCL was partially listed in a 1999 IPO. HCL Technologies specialises in "transformational" outsourcing .[citation needed]. The company has offices in 16 countries.[citation needed] HCL Technologies reported revenues of US$1.058 billion (Rs.4797 crore) for the 12-month period ended 30 September 2006 and employed 36,452 staff. In early 2006 HCL Technologies won a $300 million contract described as one of the biggest Indian outsourcing contracts to date, a three-year deal worth $300 million with European electronics retailer DSG which operates Dixon's stores in the UK <ref> "The World's Most Modern Management - in India", CNNMoney.com, 14 April 2006</ref>. The deal includes services such as custom applications development and maintenance, infrastructure management and data center hosting.[citation needed] In 2005-06, HCL announced four large, multi-service, multi-year deals.[citation needed]
HCL Infrastructure Services Division (also known as HCL Comnet), specializes in remote IT infrastructure management services.

HCL Infosystems Ltd, a listed subsidiary of HCL, is an India-based hardware and systems integrator. It claims a presence in 170 locations and 300 service centres.[citation needed] Its manufacturing facilities are based in Chennai, Pondicherry and Uttaranchal and the company is headquartered in Nodia.[citation needed]
HCL Infosystems subsidiary HCL InfiNet claims to have received ISO 9001:2000 certification for its Nokia Care service centers in India.[citation needed] The company launched a personal computer targeted at BPO customers on 12 July 2006.[citation needed]
