Hoogvliet is a town and separate borough within Rotterdam in the Netherlands. As per january 1 2004, it had 36,619 inhabitants.
Hoogvliet is a former village and municipality in South Holland. The village was first mentioned on May 26 1326 in the archive of the heren van Putten & Strijen inv. nr. 144. The village used to be called Oedenvliet, Oudenvliet and Odenvliet.
Erasmus Line (Rotterdam Metro): Rotterdam Central station - Rhoon (m. Albrandswaard) - Poortugaal (ditto) - Hoogvliet (m. Rotterdam) - Spijkenisse.
