INGO

INGO stands for International Non-governmental organization, such as CARE and ADFA-India.

The major INGOs include: CARE International, Oxfam International, World Vision International, Save the Children Alliance, Caritas International.

Some INGOs were founded as private philanthropies, such as the Carnegie and Rockefeller Foundations, and the Ford Foundation. A surge in the founding of development INGOs occurred during World War II with a number of groups founded which would later become some of the biggest development INGOs, such as Oxfam, Catholic Relief Services, CARE, and Lutheran World Relief.da:INGO
