Icepick

An icepick is a tool used to pick or chip at ice. It resembles a scratch awl, but is made for picking at ice rather than wood. Before the invention of modern refrigerators, ice picks were a ubiquitous household tool used for separating and shaping blocks of ice used in ice boxes.

Icepicks have been used for more than their intended use, most often as a murder weapon. For example, mafia hitman Abe "Kid Twist" Reles used an icepick as his weapon of choice. Fellow Murder, Inc. hitman Harry "Pittsburgh Phil" Strauss also employed an icepick as a tool of his trade.
Alternately, psychiatrist Walter Freeman used icepicks in what have been termed "icepick lobotomies", effectively hammering an icepick into the patient's brain with a rubber mallet via the eye's tear duct.
In the X-Files, a spring-loaded ice pick was used by alien bounty hunters in order to kill other rogue aliens.
Leon Trotsky is often reputed to have been killed with an ice pick; he was actually killed with an ice axe <ref>Article describing murder weapon</ref>.
In Ragnarok Online, Ice Pick is a weapon that pierces enemy defense.
Jason Voorhees' first on-screen kill was made with an icepick.
