Characteristics

Indra is a fictional character who currently appears in Marvel Comics. A teenaged mutant, Indra attends the Xavier Institute. He first appeared in New X-Men: Academy X #7.

[edit] Character Biography

Paras Gavaskar is a mutant teenager from India. After enrolling at the Xavier Institute, Gavaskar was assigned to Alpha Squadron, a training squad mentored by Northstar. Indra and his fellow team members, Anole, Loa, Rubbermaid, Network and Kidogo, suffered a great loss when they were told that Northstar had been killed in the line of duty. (Alpha Squadron is unaware that Northstar is still alive). The team was assigned a new advisor, Karma. Tragedy once again struck, when after House of M, most of the student body of the Xavier Institute were depowered. In Decimation - The Day After, Indra was confirmed to be one of a handful of students who retained their mutant powers.

Indra possess retractable sectional armored plates that afford him with the ability to cover himself in armor.

  • In the New X-Men: Academy X: Yearbook Special, Indra was voted Most Reliable.
  • Indra had a sister who also reportedly attended the Xavier Institute, but she has never been introduced and has now likely been depowered and possibly killed.
  • Indra's codename is derived from the Hindu name for the god of war and weather.
  • It has been implied by several appearances that Indra and his classmate Anole are in a homosexual relationship.
