Interest may refer to:

  • In economics interest is the return or gain from the use of real capital such as roads, bridges, tools, tractors, factories and equipment and the like.
  • In banking, interest - is money earned on a loan (for example give to a bank, or given by a bank) according to a time-based rate of return, called an interest rate.
  • In human behaviour, interests refer to particular aspects of life, culture, and society which most attract the attention of an individual.
  • National interest or state interest, referring to the operant doctrines and ambitions of a state as an abstracted concept — which includes both external and internal policies, of both natural (universal needs) and artificial (unique) character.
  • Self-interest, referring to the ambitions and of an individual.
  • Conflict of interest, referring to conclicting obligations to two or more parties in a dispute or trade.
