International Commission on Stratigraphy

The International Commission on Stratigraphy concerns itself with stratigraphy on a global scale. It is the largest scientific body within the International Union of Geological Sciences. One of its main aims is to establish a standard and global geologic time scale by encouraging an international and open debate amongst paleontologists.
