[edit] Tournaments

So far three historic events have taken place. The next IronMan is due to be held on the 1st December 2006 at The High Court of 'All In'.

Tournament name Date Location Winner Runner-up
IronMan - The Beginning 01/09/2006 Robertson Towers, Leeds Phil Corr Will Ockenden
IronMan II - Rumble in Brontë Country 06/10/2006 The Abbott Arena, Oakworth Iain Robertson Rob MacDonald
IronMan III - The Grudge 10/11/2006 Ockenden Gardens, Headingley Alan Abbott Rob MacDonald
IronMan IV - Judgement Day 01/12/2006 The High Court of 'All In', Kirkstall - -
IronMan V - Mirfield Mêlée 12/01/2007 MacDonald Manor, Mirfield - -

With the pre-tournament favourite Alan "The Monk" Abbott scooping an expected victory at IronMan III the tournament is proving to be a real everyman's event with no multiple bracelet winners as yet.

IronMan IV can't come fast enough for Rob "MacFly" MacDonald, Will "Butter Fingers" Ockenden and James "The Judge" Saunders who are now the only contenders not to have won the coverted bracelet.

Player Odds Form
The Monk 1/2, favourite With an outstanding win at IronManIII, The Monk goes into the competition riding on a rich vein of form. Can anyone stop him being the first to claim a second successive title?
MacFly 1/5 Two strong displays but no title. Such a record can affect a player in different ways. Is MacFly an optimist?
The Judge / All In Jim 101/1, rank outsider Poker's an uncompromising game. Only the strong survive. And If things don't improve for The Judge soon, the IronMan tournament may claim its first victim. Yet to be placed in tournament play, the strain is starting to tell. But with home advantage could the sleeping giant of IronMan be set to emerge?
Butter Fingers 50/1 Nondescript performances at his three previous table visits, leaves 'Butter Fingers' sat firmly in no-mans-land. Will he produce anything to right home about?

[edit] Prize money

The prize money at stake in IronMan comes second to the chance of owning the coverted IronMan Bracelet (aka 'The Precious') which is the dream of any professional poker player.

Monetary prizes are awarded for a top three finish, although this is at the discretion of the IronMan committee due to tournament numbers.

[edit] Entering the tournament

IronMan is strictly an invitation only tournament limited to the elite poker players of West Yorkshire. New players are accepted on an individual evaluation basis only.

Submissions will only be accepted through the official IronMan entry form which can be found on the official IronMan website.

[edit] Controversies

The first IronMan event was won by rank outsider, Phil "The Outcast" Corr who shamefully declined to accept the coveted IronMan bracelet and failed to attend IronMan II to defend his crown.

The original IronMan bracelet, made of solid gold and so heavy it took two men to carry it, was lost whilst on a national tour of Edinburgh by legendary IronMan II winner Iain "The Mouth" Robertson.

[edit] Mantra

Though in its relative infancy, the IronMan event has spawned a wider ideology and hegemony, summed up by the now famous mantra: "You dance with the devil, you wait 'till the song stops", which all IronMen live by.

The official song of IronMan is, of course, Iron Man by Black Sabbath. Watch a video of Black Sabbath performing Iron Man.
