Islay Macfarlane May 12 1953 - May 23 2004

Background: Named for the island of Islay, off the West Coast of Scotland. Islay Macfarlane, born in Jersey City, New Jersey on May 12 1953. Died in Towson, Maryland on May 23 2004. Cause of death: Renal cell carcinoma. Attended Case Western Reserve University, graduated in 1975.

Scottish Highland Dancing: Islay Macfarlane was the first American to win the World Championship in Scottish highland dance held in Cowal, Scotland. She won at the age of thirteen in 1966.
