Jak and Daxter
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jack and Daxter is a video game franchise originally developed by Naughty Dog for the PlayStation 2 that is named after its own protagonists. So far, five games staring the two unlikely heroes have been released, with Daxter starring in all of them and Jak appearing in all but Daxter for the PSP (in which he made a cameo).
The Jak and Daxter series received heavy attention from its first announcement, largely due to its predecessor, the Crash Bandicoot series of games (evidence of the ties between the two games is vast, including a 'spin' move and many similar objects shared between the two series). The original game was one of the first to heavily use streaming, meaning that the game was almost completely lacking in load times. It drew many comparisons to Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, for its evolution of the platforming genre. Later games in the series then started to focus on shooting and obtaining vehicles (like Grand Theft Auto III), as well as platforming and enhanced this free-roaming, load-free atmosphere in various ways.
The game is also notable for being developed in a variant of the Common Lisp programming language, called Game Oriented Assembly Lisp, rather than the more conventional language C++.

[edit] Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
"The Lost Frontier" is the rumored 6th game in the Jak and Daxter series of Playstation 2 and PSP video games which on April 21st, 2006 was registered with the USPTO and news about it first posted May 1, 2006 on IGN.com. When they were contacted by the online publication about the game Sony replied saying "As of right now, there is no official announcement regarding the title." which would appear to point out that something is indeed already in production.
The Lost Frontier is most likely to be released on the Playstation 3 and -- as found in the title's trademark description -- feature online play for the second time in the series; the first being in Jak X: Combat Racing.
[edit] Jak PSP
Robin Atkin Downes' résumé on his website had Jak PSP listed on it with the name of Captain Phoenix as the character he was playing, but this was recently removed [1].
There has been speculation about Jak PSP due to Naughty Dog's recent requests for PSP programmers and many people believed that if Robin already did the voice, the script had to be finalized.
Also, PALGN have listed "Jak & Daxter" on PSP with a release date of March 15 2007 in Australia [2]
It's also very possible that TLF and Jak PSP are one and the same.
