Jamendo is a music platform and community combining:

All music on Jamendo is licensed through one of several Creative Commons licenses or the Free Art Licence, making it free and legal to download. Jamendo allows free streaming of all of its thousands of albums, in either Ogg Vorbis or MP3 format, and also allows free downloads through the BitTorrent and eDonkey networks.

Based in Luxembourg, Jamendo is multilingual. While the website was primarily in French at first, there are now complete, official versions in English and German available as well, along with as of September 2006 incomplete versions of the site in Spanish, Polish, Portuguese and Italian.

The name is a portmanteau of two musical terms: "jam" and "crescendo".
