James McGirr

James McGirr was born in Parkes on 6 February, 1890, and was the Labor Premier of New South Wales 6 February, 1947 - 3 April, 1952.
In the state election of 1950 Labor only just scraped back into office, depending for its survival on independent parliamentarians. This was the nearest to outright defeat that Labor came in its twenty-four-year rule of New South Wales (1941 - 1965).
McGirr died in Strathfield on 27 October, 1957, aged 67.
