Javier Aguirre Onaindía (born December 1, 1958 in Mexico City, Mexico) is a former Mexico national football team player and coach. He took the Mexican national team to the 2002 FIFA World Cup.
Before the national team, he coached CF Atlante and CF Pachuca, winning one National championship in 1999 with Pachuca. He managed CA Osasuna in the La Liga from 2002-2006 having previously played for the club and attained them a UEFA Champions League spot having finished 4th in La Liga, the club's highest placing of all time in the competition. He is moving on to Atlético Madrid.
As a player, he also played for Club América , Chivas and CA Osasuna. He was a member of the Mexican team that competed at the 1986 FIFA World Cup on home soil.
