Image:Jay Adams.jpg Jay Adams (born February 3, 1961 in Los Angeles, California) is one of the original Z-Boys and is considered one of the most influential skateboarders of all time.

Former Z-Boy team member Stacy Peralta has called Adams "the world's greatest natural skater," while Craig Stecyk, one of the owners of the Jeff Ho and Zephyr Production Surf Shop, who assembled the Z-Boys, dubbed Adams "the original 'seed.'" <ref>thesunmachine.net</ref> Adams is featured prominently in the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys and in the dramatized account of the Z-Boys, Lords of Dogtown.

Adams has had numerous run-ins with the law in his adult life and spent time in prison for, among other things, assault and drug crimes. He was a member of the Venice Suicidals street gang. As of 2005 he was out on parole, but in early 2006 was apparently sent back to a Honolulu jail for a drug offense. Even during his most recent incarceration, Jay has been outspoken on the topic of the dangers of drug abuse.
